Zoom Room Definitions

Zoom Room:

A room where a Zoom video conferencing session can occur without a need for an external device (laptop, tablet, phone) to host the session. These rooms access the classroom camera and microphones for the session to provide a better experience for all guests. Zoom functions as the sole means of presenting materials on the monitor or via the projector (via screen share).

Zoom-capable:

A room where a Zoom video conferencing session can occur, but requires an external device (laptop, tablet, phone) to host the session. These rooms access the classroom camera and microphones for the session to provide a better experience for all guests. Presentation of materials is typically via an HDMI cable that connects to a personal device (some adapters are available in the room).

No Zoom Capabilities:

A room where a Zoom video conferencing session can occur with the use of an external device (laptop, tablet, phone), but these rooms do not connect to any classroom audiovisual equipment such as room cameras or microphones. These rooms are not recommended for any hybrid courses or events. Presentation in the room and presentation to remote audience are not in alignment.
