Schedule a Course

I Need To...

Schedule a new course

Submit your course information through the University's Collaborative Class Scheduling (CCS) process.

Request a specialized classroom

If your course requires specific instructional technologies, room configurations, accessibility accommodations, or other unique features, please include those needs as part of your scheduling request.

Request a course change

If your course schedule changes after classroom assignments begin being made, submit a Course Placement Change Request. Requests are reviewed based on classroom availability and instructional needs.

Schedule a final exam

If your course requires a classroom for an in-person exam, you need to submit a Final Exam Request. Unless a request is received, HSCS will assume your final exam will be administered online.

Schedule a course-related event

If you need to schedule a review session, workshop, or other planned activity that directly relates to your course, you will need to schedule that separately from the course scheduling process.

How Course Scheduling Works

To provide equitable access to shared classrooms, course scheduling follows a coordinated university-wide process.

1. Courses Are Submitted  through the Collaborative Class Scheduling (CCS) System

Departments and collegiate schedulers submit course information through the Collaborative Class Scheduling (CCS) process according to established university timelines. CCS user training is provided through Academic Support Resources and general instructions are also available.

We have a Step-by-Step Course Scheduling Guide to assist you through every step of the process.

2. Special Course Placement Requests are Communicated

Department and collegiate schedulers communicate with the HSCS Scheduling Team any special course needs as needed via established practices (primarily via shared Google Sheet).

3. Classrooms Are Assigned

HSCS works with scheduling partners to assign classrooms based on:

  • Enrollment needs
  • Room capacity
  • Instructional technology requirements
  • Accessibility considerations
  • Specialized room features
  • Overall classroom utilization

4. Schedules Are Finalized

Once classroom assignments have been completed, departments receive their room assignments and can begin reviewing any remaining scheduling needs.

5. Changes Are Processed

As instructional needs evolve, HSCS continues to review and accommodate schedule changes whenever space availability allows.

Scheduling Priorities

Because Health Sciences classrooms are shared resources supporting multiple colleges and programs, requests are reviewed using established scheduling priorities.

Classroom assignments are intended to:

  • Support instructional needs
  • Maximize utilization of shared classroom resources
  • Provide equitable access across programs
  • Align room features with teaching requirements
  • Maintain flexibility for changing enrollment patterns

For detailed scheduling protocols, view the Classroom Scheduling Protocols.
