HSEC 7th Floor Classroom & Event Support

The Health Science Education Center (HSEC) 7th floor provides a number of spaces and equipment for serving health sciences, Interprofessional teaching and learning needs and other high profile events.

The spaces below are managed by the Health Sciences Classroom Services office:

  • The adjacent 7th floor Prefunction Lobby (HSEC 704CC) located southeast of the HSEC 7-150/7-152 classrooms can serve as overflow space for the classroom occupants.
  • A 7th floor Catering Kitchen (HSEC 7-141) is available for HSEC 7-150/7-152 event needs.
  • The HSEC 7-150/7-152 classroom has presentation projection and streaming capability, and portable monitor/microphone carts are available.

Scheduling Protocols

Scheduling of the HSEC 7-150/7-152 classroom space follows the protocols developed and endorsed by the HSEC Leadership Council and Health Sciences Classroom Services (HSCS).

  1. Health Sciences credit-bearing courses with an enrollment of 125 or more
  2. Health Sciences Interprofessional, course related activities of 125 or more
  3. High-profile, high-impact events with demonstrated capacity needs in excess of 150
  4. Other events per HSCS protocols and as space allows.

Student groups will not be scheduled in HSEC 7-150/7-152 unless the program is sponsored by a Health Science School or College. Student groups should contact the Student Unions for similar space.

Use of the 7th floor Prefunction Lobby (HSEC 704CC) and 7th floor Catering Kitchen (HSEC 7-141) can be requested through Health Sciences Classroom Services and must be in coordination with the programming in the 7-150/7-152 classrooms.

Room Setup

HSEC 7-150/7-152 will use a default layout that meets the needs of the majority of courses each semester. Furniture reconfiguration between courses will only be possible if there is ample setup and takedown time.

Event setup must be coordinated through HSCS, who will help provide student staffing if available. If not available, HSCS will provide oversight to internal or external setup staff.

HSCS does not provide additional furniture for hallway/open study space.  HSCS only provides furnishings that are in our classrooms.  Room users are asked to keep furnishings in the appropriate classrooms/spaces.

If HSEC users need additional furniture for the areas that Facilities Management (FM) manages (open study spaces, corridors, other public areas) they can rent through Apres rental or another, reputable rental company and coordinate delivery, setup, and clean up, upon granted approval from FM.

Groups who have reserved the HSEC 7th floor Catering Kitchen are responsible for adequately cleaning the catering kitchen per the guidelines provided. If they choose, they may contact  FM to coordinate custodial services, for a fee, using this request form.
